Below is a list of our current volunteer opportunities. To express interest and learn more, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form. We appreciate your interest in helping us support our community members in need.

Fundraising (on-going and flexible needs)

The Department of Elder & Human Services screens and completes an intake for social service calls for the Canton Helpline and callers are screened and referred to proper resources. The Canton Helpline’s fundraising supports them with fulfilling basic needs such as food, clothing, furniture, and transportation when applicable through our Direct Services Program. In addition, financial assistance is available to help with utility bills and fuel costs through the Canton Helpline.

To support our programs, including Direct Services, Food Pantry, and Holiday Helpers, please visit the donations page on our website or scan the QR code below. All donations are tax-deductible. Your donation will support programs with the greatest need unless you designate it as “Direct Services,” “Food Pantry,” or “Holiday Helpers.” We hope you’ll consider joining us in this vital community effort to help ensure the well-being of our neighbors.

Holiday Helpers

For 50+ years, those unable to provide holiday gifts for their children have been helped by the generosity of families and businesses contributing to the Canton Helpline’s Holiday Helpers Program. Volunteer opportunities for this program include sponsors and shoppers.

  • Sponsors: Like all of the Canton Helpline’s programs, the Holiday Helpers program relies on the generosity of our community. To support the Holiday Helpers Program, please refer to the Fundraising section above.
  • Shoppers: Each Fall, we enlist the help of shoppers to buy presents and deliver them to the fire department for distribution, ensuring confidentiality. A shopping list is provided with specific requests from Canton families with children in need.
