Services

The Department of Elder & Human Services (DEHS) provides intake and screening for all Canton Helpline social service requests. Residents work confidentially with a social worker who assesses their needs, provides guidance, and connects them with appropriate community resources.

Through the generosity of our donors, the Canton Helpline helps eligible Canton residents meet basic needs through our Direct Services Program. Assistance may be available for emergency transportation, prescription costs, utility shut-off prevention, fuel assistance, camp scholarships, pool passes, and other extraordinary emergency expenses as approved by our Board of Directors. We can also help connect residents with resources for food, clothing, housing, and other essential services.

While the Canton Helpline does not provide financial assistance for rent or mortgage payments, DEHS can connect residents with housing resources and other programs that may help.
